The crew located the affected trailer and saw that one tote flipped during shipment creating the leak.
Our HazChem technicians used a forklift and began to offload six totes that were from the trailer, resulting in damaged freight during transit .
On the dock, the crew tightened the cap on the tote and wiped it down with absorbent pads. Since the tote was non-damaged and cleaned, it was accepted as shippable product.
Additionally, we then deployed ten bags of oil dry into the standing product waste liquid and worked it in with brooms, for absorption and solidification.
The HazChem crew staged 55-gallon OTS drums with a poly liner in each and scooped up the impacted oil dry to place it in the drums, to be disposed of as waste.
The crew reloaded the totes onto the remediated trailer and once it was approved, the driver departed.
Next, the crew utilized a pressure washer into the 8’x15’ and the 8’x6’ impacted areas, to remediate. The crew then used Simple Green and worked it in with hard brooms, to lift the product waste and make sure there would not be any stains set. Oil dry was deployed into the standing wastewater/product waste and worked it in, for absorption.
The crew staged 55-gallon OTS drums with a poly liner in each, so they could scoop up the impacted oil dry and put the collected, solidified product waste in.
This spill generated seven waste drums; sealed, properly labeled, and loaded them onto the DOT truck for transport and disposal. Finally, photos were taken and remediation was approved.
