HazChem received a call to request remediation of a forklift accident spill clean up in a warehouse.

SOLUTION:

HazChem deployed an Emergency Response Team within 60 minutes of receiving the call.

Upon arrival at the scene, the crew discovered that a warehouse forklift had accidentally punctured a 320-gallon tote filled with acid. Acid Spill Clean Up

The crew donned level “C” Poly coated Tyvek suits with air purifying respirators, acid boots, and chem master gloves.  To contain the spread of the spill, Oil Dri and vermiculite were placed around the impacted area.

Oil dry and vermiculite were placed into seven 55-gallon open top plastic drums to be disposed of as waste.

A mixture of sodium bicarbonate and water was used to neutralize the spilled acidic liquid. The trailer was offloaded, and the contaminated freight was wiped down with the sodium bicarbonate solution.

While moving the freight, the crew staged the punctured tote and used universal absorbent pads to clean the contaminated totes. While moving the freight, the crew used universal absorbent pads to clean the contaminated totes.
